ITEMS_MODULE

Have you created a module that you would like to submit to BudaBot? Post it here, and it might make it into the next release.

For those of you who have been following you'll know that we have now created our own AO Items Extractor tool so we are no longer dependent on other people for fixes, upgades, etc. This means we will be able to provide items db updates much more quickly after a patch.

Also, with this new tool, we are able to clean up the items db even more which means that you will get better, more relevant results that are in game. If you've ever had the opportunity to use !items on another bot I think you will see the difference.

In addition, !items will now return results based on relevance. For Budabot, relevance means that exact word matches will appear higher in the list than partial word matches.

For example: !items ot ring
OT Ring and Augmented OT Ring would be first since they have two exact matches (both 'ot' and 'ring'). Next would be other rings such as Notum Ring that has one exact match ('ring') and one partial match ('ot' in Notum). And then lastly would be items such as "Motion String" which has only partial matches ("ot" in Motion and "ring" in String). Thanks to Deathmaster1 (RK2) for this suggestion.

Savagedlight submitted a pull request to add support for her CIDB (central items database) to the ITEM_MODULE which I have merged. There is now a setting to control whether Budabot uses the central database or the local database for !items lookups (!settings change items_database). Additionally, you can use !litems to force a lookup using the local database, or !citems to force a lookup using the central database.

Just curious as to how many people plan on using the central items database as their items database? If most people are planning on that, great. If not, I guess I need to release the Budabot Items Extractor so that people can make their own db rips.

I'd prefere the Item Exractor release, I don't really like it to be dependent on another server.
Also it would be faster!

So ... giieeef :D

Due to low usage/interest in the CIDB support for the ITEMS_MODULE, I have removed it. We will continue to update the local items db for the foreseeable future and !items will continue to work as always.

Can you give an example of where it links to Xyphos' DB? Also, I'm not sure I could do anything about it since we would need another site that provided that same information.

Hmm, I'm not sure what you mean. If you type !items supple and then click on one of the items in the list, it should show you the item in-game. Are you using the game client? Or are you using something like AORC?
